Confined Space * Hazardous Areas * Marine Reach and Rescue * Fire Safety

Confined Space * Hazardous Areas * Marine Reach and Rescue * Fire Safety

COVID 19 is the most catastrophic time that this generation has seen or will perhaps ever see. Amidst these times talking about safety solutions at confined space and hazardous areas or marine and fire safety may seem a little mundane or unimportant. However, when you really think about it, we need to talk about safety measures at workplace more so now than ever. At no time can we can’t afford injury at workplace, and now it is even more pertinent that there is no cause for our colleagues to go visit the clinics. We must equip all our workplaces with adequate resources to manage if not eliminate the possible disasters that cause injuries.

While there are many areas of possible injuries and for more than a decade we have been assisting clients in preventive safety solutions under our sister concern, RAAH Safety. We have been successful and our solutions are adopted by many companies across several sectors. To further complement RAAH Safety, we now bring to our customers Confined Space and Hazardous areas, Marine Search and Rescue and Fire Rescue services.

Several industries are affected by safety challenges of Confined Space and Hazardous areas. These are predominantly industries with large factories, industries that work underground, industries where fire and smoke raised due to fire is easily started, industries dealing in unhealthy waste especially gas. Some of these industries include: Mining, Railroad construction, Infrastructure construction, Offshore, Vessels, Platforms, Rigs, Chemical plants, Refineries, Power plants, Windmills, Oil and Gas, LNG, Renewal Energy, Waste Management industries, Pharmaceutical industry and some food manufacturing industries dealing in chemicals and similar industries.

Places of work that employ confined spaces must have good practices in Control of Hazardous Energy, Energy Isolation and Lockout, Barricades, Communication and Warning Signs,  Access and Egress, Lighting and Electrical Equipment, Respiratory Protective Equipment, Gas testing and Monitoring of Confined Spaces Atmosphere, Purging and Ventilation, Emergency and Rescue solutions and more. Some common accidents include Explosion of Chemical Storage Tanks, Exposure to poisonous gas during Gas Testing and other gas handling functions, Toxic poisoning, Death by Suffocation, and more. In Singapore WSH reports 10% of workplace fatalities were due to work-related accidents in confined spaces.

US Department of Labor reported that over 4.8 million confined space entries are made per year in USA. 11,000 injuries occurred could be prevented if employers and workers had followed procedures outlined.

In confined spaces there is minimum assistance when a disaster occurs. The worker trapped has to have the necessary tools to escape from injuries. One such safety solution needed in confined spaces and hazardous areas is Atex Lightings. Several brands have been offering Atex Lighting solutions for decades including WOLF, Chalmit, Stahl, Atexor, Raytec, Atexxo and many more. Many are leaders in LED lights for Hazardous Areas Luminaries. FSE Safe offers Atex Lights for Hazardous Areas and Confined Spaces and is a distributor to 3 brands Atexor, Atexo and Raytec, offering a wide range of Atex Lights. The lights are for different requirements too such as some are emergency enabled in case of electricity failure, Dali Enabled so users can choose from a wide range of Atex Lights to suit their needs.

The other very important and crucial safety equipment for Confined Space and Hazardous areas is Blowers, Fans and Ventilators. RAMFANS are a very popular brand for Blowers and Ventilator Fans. Blowers, Fans and Ventilators allow for several functions to improve the quality of air in a confined space. Removing Chemical waste in the atmosphere, removing smoke, pushing in fresh air several functions are required in confined space. And any lapse can be fatal including:

1.       Suffocation Hazards by Oxygen Deficiency

2.       Fire/Explosion Hazards by Flammable Gases and Vapours

3.       Poisoning by Toxic Gases, Vapours or Fumes

All of us do what we can to make our workplace safe and healthy, everyone plays an important role.  Educating workers, having equipment available, putting procedures in place, planning for contingencies are a good place to start. The aim is to work together and keep learning from mistakes and continuously improving.

Safety is not only our business, it is our passion. We are doing preventive safety under RAAH Brand and now Emergency and Rescue safety under FSE Safe. We strive to help create workplaces that are 100% injury free. We get inspired when the companies we service Do Not make it to the news channel for disasters.  We rejoice when every worker goes home to his family. Safety is not our job, it is our goal. It is your goal. It is the goal of those who depend on us.

Be Safe! Stay Connected!
