Choosing the correct fan for forced ventilation of confined space


One of the greatest hazards of a confined space is atmosphere in the space.
Atmosphere hazards :
Flamable or Toxic Gases, Vapors, Depleted or Enriched Oxygen levels, Excessive Heat or Cool air.

In many cases natural ventilation will not be suitable, forced ventilation is needed : either dilution ventilation or exhaust ventilation.
Forced Ventilation can be performed by
Positive pressure ventilation #PPV
Negative pressure ventilation #NPV

Many factory need to be considered to select the correct forced ventilator machine and method.

OSHA states, "The forced air ventilation shall be so directed as to ventilate the immediate areas where an employee is or will be present within the space and shall continue until all employees have left the space".
